Rich House, Poor House followed two families with very different living conditions as they swapped homes. However, the Channel 5 show left some viewers confused and they took to social media to share their thoughts.

Adam boasted a new Bentley and explained he lived on the “most expensive road in Essex”, with a combined weekly disposable income of £1,600 with his father.

The businessman would often spend time traveling around the world and mixing with celebrities for his job.

Kiptieu, on the other hand, lives in a small council flat based in Abbey Wood, London.

She shares the two-bedroom ground floor flat with her three daughters.

Contrasting Adam’s fast-paced career, Kiptieu revealed she recently lost her job as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The sudden change had caused her family budget to become tighter than ever with around £70 a week after bills.

While Kiptieu’s family were wowed by the Essex property, Adam and Ian had more adjusting to do in the London flat.

Viewers of the show were quick to share their verdicts on social media on Adam’s disposable income.

Some headed to Twitter to share their surprise at the weekly budget of £1,600 and explained they wouldn’t know how to spend so much.

One posted: “I think I’d struggle to spend £1,600 as the poor family. Certainly more than you could spend on food. Shopping spree on the last day?”

“I wouldn’t mind a spare £1600 a month let alone a week,” one joked.

A social media user quipped: “In lockdown… even food wise I couldn’t spend that much.”

Many shared their admiration for Kiptieu as she spoke about budgeting to support her family and her new homemade food delivery service.

One wrote: “She seems such a lovely person – she doesn’t have much but puts everyone above her.”

Another agreed, and said: “What a woman!!! No amount of money in the bank can give you a big heart and determination.”

Speaking of her food delivery service, another added: “Wow. 17 miles on public transport to deliver pre ordered food. Inspirational really. So much dedication.”
